Who is a Sports Medicine Doctor?
Sport Medicine Doctors are paediatricians, family medicine doctors, and other doctors with special training in sports medicine. It may interest you to know that the stadium is more or less like an emergency ward to the sports medicine doctor. Hence, Sports medicine doctor must be a quick thinker. A Sports medicine doctor must be very smart. He/she must be swift and accurate while treating patients. This is because the injured sportsperson might be the Ace of his/her team. Hence, an urgent solution and prescription should be provided. Not just urgent but accuracy too is needed.
Sports Medicine Doctors can be a primary care doctor, orthopedic doctor or any specialized doctor.
Here is a list of medical services they offer;

Academic Requirement of a Sport Medicine Doctor
It may surprise you to know that a sports medicine doctor, goes through the same schooling process as that of a medical doctor.
He/she must offer science-related courses (such as biology, chemistry and physics) in High School. He/ she must have at least a score of 230 in Jamb. This is because most schools have high expectations for a medical student. Hence, their cut-off mark for Jamb is most of the times extremely high. Then, you must apply to a university that offers medicine as a course( for an orthopaedic doctor it includes; 4 years of medical school, 5 years of orthopaedic residency; 1 year of additional study in sports medicine). Then other professional training and exams too would be needed. So also, a medical license at the end of your study is also needed. The truth is, these academic processes can take you at least six (6) – Seven (7) years of intensive study.
